Act 311 of 1951 established a retirement system (ASPRS) for state troopers of the Arkansas State Police. This system is overseen by the ASPRS Board of Trustees (Board).
Trustees serve without compensation and are responsible as fiduciaries to protect the long-term value of the system’s assets and to provide benefit security for members. Act 1242 of 2009 merged the investable assets of ASPRS with those of the Arkansas Public Employees’ Retirement System (APERS). The act granted all authority over the investment of the merged assets to the Board of Trustees of APERS.
The board receives counsel from staff, advisory committees, and other consultants to administer the ASPRS plan.
